FAQs

What size bra should I order?

To find out your Masthead bra size, take your chest measurement. Use a measuring tape to measure across around the widest part of your back, approximately level with your shoulder blades, and around front to the fullest part of your breasts, across the nipple line. Take your chest measurement in inches, and consult our size chart (click here for size chart). For in-between sizes and large breasted customers, order the next size larger.

Will my size change after surgery?

Possibly, but it won’t affect which size Masthead bra you need. Our bras are made of ultrasoft, supportive nylon/Lycra performance fabric designed to stretch, recover and mold to your body. They have several points of adjustability for fit and comfort and to accommodate dressings. If you are in doubt, or worried that you will get swollen after surgery, go up one size.

If you would like to cancel or change your order, please contact us immediately by phone (914-713-8550) or email (info@mastheadpink.com).

Are your products reimbursable by insurance?

Although Masthead does not submit insurance claims for reimbursements, you may be eligible for insurance reimbursement for your purchase of post-operative garments. Check with your doctor to get a prescription. Since insurance plans vary widely, it’s best for you to contact your insurance company directly to find out what benefits and reimbursements you are eligible for and how to apply for them.

The following HCPCS codes (code used to determine reimbursability) have been issued for Masthead garments by CMS:

Elizabeth Pink Surgical Bra with Pockets Style #042p: L8000

Estelle Bra with Pockets Style #021p: L8000

Judy Long-Line Surgical Bra Style #045: L8000

Luna All-Day Bra Style #074 L8000

Do you ship internationally?

If you are interested in shipping to an address outside the United States, please contact us by phone (914-713-8550) or email (info@mastheadpink.com) with the item(s) you would like to purchase and the shipping address.  We will communicate the shipping costs to you in advance of fulfilling your order.

How do I know if my doctor will approve of my wearing a bra immediately post-surgery?

Most patients are told what they will need at their pre-op appointment. Many hospitals and medical offices provide Masthead garments, and you may wake up from surgery wearing one of our bras.

I do not have JP drains. Does that mean the Elizabeth Pink Surgical® Bra won’t work for me?

The Elizabeth Pink Surgical Bra® can be used as a versatile comfort bra if you do not have JP drains. Ribbons can be cut off with scissors if you do not have drains, or once drains are removed.

How do I care for my JP drains?

Proper care of your drains is essential. You must regularly empty the bulbs so that they drain the fluid accumulating at the surgical site.

Click here to download a copy of our Drain Log to record and report fluid output to your physician.

How should I wash my bra?

We recommend hand washing or machine washing Masthead bras on the gentle cycle in cold or warm water using a mild detergent. Before you wash your bra, make sure to close any Velcro tapes securely so that they don’t stick to the bra or other clothing during laundering. You can also place the garment in a lingerie bag for washing. We recommend laying the bra flat or hanging it to air-dry.

DO NOT PUT BRA IN THE DRYER.

To get blood or serous fluid out of the fabric, soak in cold water before washing. Use an oxygen bleach to remove stains.

Can I send a Masthead bra as a gift?

Yes! The comfort, fit and healing benefits of Masthead products are among the most thoughtful gifts you could send someone who is undergoing breast cancer treatment! We will even include a personalized message if you wish to send one.

I am trying to place an order on your website, but I keep getting a messaging saying the transaction will not go through. I know my credit card works. What should I do?

Usually when a transaction doesn’t go through it’s because the billing zip code you entered is not the same one that your credit card company has on file.

What are Masthead bras made of?

Masthead products are made of high quality performance nylon/Lycra fabric and trims specially designed for health care use and produced in state-of-the-art production facilities under strict quality and testing guidelines. They do not contain natural rubber latex, phthalates, BPAs, PFAS, or any other risk Level 1 or Level 2 substances listed on the most recent Apparel and Footwear International Management (AFIRM) restricted substances list.
